Menicon in the news

Menicon has acquired all shares of Tomey Co. Ltd., a major Japan-based manufacturer of contact lens care solutions, soft contact lenses and GP materials. The acquisition does not involve ophthalmic instrument manufacturer Tomey Corporation.

Tomey Co. Ltd. has been Menicon’s principal supplier of contact lens care solutions and the exclusive supplier of Meniconbranded monthly replacement soft contact lenses and GP materials, including Menicon Z and Menicon EX. The company will be renamed MeniconNect and will relocate its headquarters to Nagoya, Japan. The manufacturing facilities will remain as they are and the company expects to retain all current employees.

“Menicon is very pleased to complete the vertical integration of our core products through this acquisition,” said Menicon President Dr. Hidenari Tanaka. “Having complete control of raw material procurement and manufacturing will help us provide even better products and services, and excellent value to all of our customers worldwide.”
